A geometrical method for quantifying endmembers' fractions in three?component groundwater mixing

چکیده
We present a new geometrical method capable of quantifying and illustrating the outcomes three-component mixing dynamics. In scenario, classical algebraic equations endmember analysis (EMMA) can be used to quantify contributions from each fraction. Three-component natural waters, either in an element–element plot or by using EMMA subspace is described triangular shaped distribution sample points where placed on apex, while side corresponds function two endmembers at considering third endmembers' contribution equal zero. Along side, theoretical fractions computed mass balance equations. Samples with three will inside triangle, homogeneous barycentric coordinate projections projected onto sides. The geochemistry observed mineralized Ferrarelle aquifer system (southern Italy) results groundwater, diagnostic geochemical compositions. defined boundary conditions allow us parameterize validate procedures for modelling mixing, including selection suitable tracers.

Tracing and quantifying groundwater inflow into lakes using a simple method for radon-222 analysis
Due to its high activities in groundwater, the radionuclide 222Rn is a sensitive natural tracer to detect and quantify groundwater inflow into lakes, provided the comparatively low activities in the lakes can be measured accurately. Here we present a simple method for radon measurements in the low-level range down to 3 Bq m−3, appropriate for groundwater-influenced lakes, together with a concep...
متن کاملpassivity in waiting for godot and endgame: a psychoanalytic reading
this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...
A Multiscale Measure for Quantifying Mixing of Passive Scalar Fields
In spite of a large amount of recent research on the problem of fluid mixing and its control, there is no consensus on a proper measure for quantifying mixing. We present a measure of mixing that is based on the concept of weak convergence and is capable of probing the “mixedness” of the advected passive scalar field at various scales. This new measure, called the Mix-Norm, resolves the inabili...

متن کاملQuantifying Isentropic Mixing in a Modified Lagrangian Coordinate:
Isentropic mixing is an important process for the distribution of chemical constituents in the mid-to-high latitudes. A new framework is introduced to quantify both symmetric and asymmetric isentropic mixing in a modified Lagrangian coordinate. The framework is applied to quantify the mixing associated with the two types of Rossby wave breaking (i.e. cyclonic and anticyclonic) in two sets of id...
